Stepping Out Of The Prison Within
How often do you find yourself battling in a seemingly never ending cycle of spiritual stronghold? A mindset filled with hopelessness that causes you to accept what you perceive to be unchangeable situations; and that you know are contrary to the will of God and not consistent with the word of God? I’m talking about those strongholds of fear, anxiety, jealousy, anger, un-forgiveness, doubts of self worth, pride, self-gratification, heart of judgement, etc. Yes, even those hurtful phrases or words that someone in your life said over you and that you have allowed yourself to identify with—blatant lies of the adversary. These cyclical patterns are all in effort for the enemy to keep us out of fellowship with our Creator and to prevent us from living a truly, wonderful, fulfilled, free life in Christ as our Father created us to live. Freedom!
Freedom is choosing to fully embrace our identity in Christ Jesus. True freedom is the freedom from self-preservation; its freedom from the need to look after our own interests. Freedom is looking to Jesus as Lord over every area of our life and embracing complete “oneness” with our Father; truly believing who He says we are. “And, I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV). In our culture, we often define freedom as the absence of problems, the absence of things that restrict us or confine us. Rather, it’s our ability to live truthfully and lovingly with God and with one another: To live other-centered and not self-centered. Freedom is a place in which we can respond to God without fear or hesitation, choosing life and living in joy—completeness. We have the power through Christ’s redemptive work on the cross to break the chains of the prison within and rise up! The enemy has no power over us—he was defeated at the cross through the death, burial and resurrection of our King! So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 (ESV)
Here is the fantastic news! You can step out of the prison within and claim full victory through Christ Jesus. It is not the absence of the stronghold that sets you free, it is embracing the presence of Jesus that releases the grip of the stronghold over you. We must declare and speak God’s truth in and over our lives daily so that we live and experience a life of freedom. ...Seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Colossians 3:9-10 (NKJV)
