Today, if only we would hear His voice

I was born and raised in Florida. Apart from one brief period lasting a year when I was too young to see or know anything, I have lived my whole life here. This Florida girl loves the ocean…the sights, the sounds, the rhythm is all healing to my soul. (The sand sticking to every part of me, well that I could really do without, but I will take it to have the rest!) But last week, this Florida girl went to the desert of Arizona.

The verdict is still out for me regarding the “wonderful difference between dry heat and Florida humid heat”…but this I do know:

God is SO creative and purposeful! Cacti in so many variety before my eyes! Colorful blooms in contrast to the neutral brown and green. Birds burrowing in branches of a prickly cactus and creating holes for homes in giant prickly cacti! Plants that protect their water source with prickles in the midst of dry landscape. It caused me to fill with joy and worship God! Knowing the care and precision He used in creation here is the same creation and care He uses with me!

Psalm 95: 1-7 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.  Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.  For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.   In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.  The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.   Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;  for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice.

I would assume most of you reading this are not doing any great hiking adventures today or changing your scenery this drastically. We don’t have to go anywhere special to see Him, or to hear His voice today.

We need only to

  • slow down

  • take some deep breaths

  • meditate/repeat this truth under our breath “He is My God and I belong in His family, He is caring for me!

  • keep our eyes and ears open
