Volunteer of the Week: Bob

Without our volunteers, service on Sunday would not be possible. We simply cannot thank our volunteers enough for all the ways that they serve, and that is why we are honoring our volunteers every week.

Bob is one of those crucial volunteers that help our service run with excellence. We are thankful for his loyalty, faithfulness, and his genuine heart to serve.

Tell us a little bit about you, your family, and how long you have been attending illuminate?

I am young in my faith journey. Gave my life to Christ 4/23/08, Best decision ever! How did I not know of such a loving God for the first 40 years of my life that wanted a personal relationship with me? I still have much growing to do but so grateful not to be where I was just 11 years ago.

I have been with illuminate church since the beginning.

Where do you serve at illuminate? Why do you serve?

FILO (First in / Last out production crew) – God transformed my heart to be a servant leader and to make a difference in the community. It’s no longer about me and all about His Amazing Grace, truth and Love.

I serve because I want others to know a very personal, relational, loving and living God who gives more than we can ask or imagine.

What advice would you give to someone who is interested in serving?

Pray about it. He will be faithful to connect each of us with our gifting & talents with the needs of the community. Plus serving is a great way to get plugged in and meet wonderful people.

Why illuminate church?

Most of all – His Presence. The atmosphere is special here. The hardest hearts can get softened, the darkest can be illuminated! Often times you may catch me with genuine tears of joy in my eyes during a service. We are called to be the salt and the light. People can find a church body living it out right here! This is a family.
