Volunteers of the Week: Clarissa & Alex

Our Volunteers of the Week are Clarissa and Alex! This amazing couple serve together on our Worship Team. This amazing couple are so loving, generous, loyal, and are always looking for ways to serve. We are so thankful for these two, and how dedicated they are in using their gifts for God’s glory. Thank you for all you do!

Clarissa, Tell us a little bit about you, your family, and how long you have been attending illuminate?

My family moved to Florida from Minnesota back in 2006. We were originally only going to be snow birds and spend the winter here. But we got connected to a church here right away (the one that would eventually become illuminate church) and that’s the reason my parents felt called to move here full time. We have been attending illuminate church since it began in 2013 (and as I mentioned, we were a part of the previous churches that formed into illuminate before that). We all love being a part of it. Myself and each of my siblings all met our spouses here at church. I have experienced such life change and joy being a part of illuminate this whole time. I’m just thankful and excited I get to be a part of it. And I can’t wait to see what else is in store for illuminate’s future.

Alex, Where do you serve, and why?

I serve on the Sunday morning worship team and as the Young Adults worship director. Serving is an act of obedience. God has anointed us to serve the church and our community and has equipped us with the abilities we need to serve in the areas and at the capacity needed from us. It’s such a blessing to be able to glorify God with gifts that He gave us.

Clarissa, Where do you serve, and why?

I currently serve on the Sunday morning worship team and the Young Adults worship team. I serve because I fully and truly believe in what God is doing at illuminate church. I want to use my gifts and talents that God has given me to honor him. It’s really an honor to me to be a part of these teams. I love the relationships and friendships I’ve gained from serving. We’re all really able to do “life on life” with each other when we’re serving God’s kingdom together.

Alex, What advice would you give to someone who is interested in serving?

If you see a need, and God has equipped you with the ability to fill that need, then there is no reason to wait. The joy that you experience knowing you’re walking in obedience and knowing that God designed you with purpose is amazing.

Clarissa, Why illuminate church?

There’s really something special at illuminate church. It’s not just a group of people that meet on Sunday’s, and do their own thing during the week until the next Sunday. It really is a big family. All of my closest relationships I’ve gained through illuminate church. I can’t imagine how different me and my family’s life would be if we weren’t a part of illuminate. It’s all because of the Lord and the powerful work he is doing at and through illuminate. I’m very thankful we have Pastor Tim, and the entire staff who lead the way. I love my church! I’m glad God called us here.
