Volunteer of the Week: Madison

Volunteers are an intricate part of illuminate church. Alone, the staff can only get done a small fraction of what you see happening at our services. The truth is we function better as a body. Each of us in the body of Christ have a specific part to play for His glory, and we are so thankful that our volunteers contribute to make us whole. Madison is someone who has brought such a wide range of gifts to illuminate, and we are so thankful we have the opportunity to appreciate her this week.

Tell us a little bit about you, your family, and how long you have been attending illuminate?

My name is Madison, I’m 25 years old, and I’m the oldest of 5 kids. I was born in Ohio, but moved to Florida in 2002, and I’ve been here ever since. Growing up, I homeschooled and competed in dance, and later attended University of Central Florida where I obtained my Bachelors in Social Sciences. I currently work in Entertainment at Walt Disney World. I’ve been attending illuminate since the day it started.

Where do you serve at illuminate? Why do you serve?

I currently serve as a leader in illuminate youth, CG on tech team, and as a Prayer Encourager. I serve because not only do I feel it’s my purpose to further the Kingdom, but also it has provided many growing experiences and has shaped me into who I am today.

What advice would you give to someone who is interested in serving?

I would say find those serving opportunities that make you excited to get up in the morning. You want to be able to see the vision and get excited about what you’re contributing to and where it’s going in the years to come. Be sure to never spread yourself too thin, though! Balance is key.

Why illuminate church?

I choose illuminate because they’re family. They’ve been with me through some of the most joyous occasions and even through some of the hardest years of my life. I feel known here. I feel a sense of belonging.
