Volunteers of the Week: Tracy and Gabby

This week we are honoring a mother and daughter who are so deserving of praise. Tracy and Gabby shined so bright this past week as they served at multiple Shine Week events. They are dedicated, and faithful volunteers in our Children's Ministry and have also served in the Batey Girls outreach. Thank you Tracy and Gabby for always being someone we can count on. We appreciate you!

Tracy, Tell us a little bit about you, your family, and how long you have been attending illuminate?

I am turning the big "60" this year, celebrating 19 years with my husband, Bill. I have three daughters, 4 grandkids, and one more on the way. I love my girls more than life itself and we have been attending illuminate since November 2013, 6 months before we even moved to Central Florida.

Gabby, Where do you serve at illuminate?

I have been serving in the Children's Ministry since I was in the 6th grade. I am now in the 11th grade so that is over 5 years. I serve in this ministry because I love kids, I love being with them and learning about Jesus together.

Tracy, Where do you serve at illuminate?

I serve in the Children's Ministry. I serve in this ministry because I too love kids so it seemed like a natural fit for me. I also love the excitement the little ones have when we teach them about Jesus. Regardless of where I serve, it truly makes me feel so good inside to be able to help, and a word of Thanks means the world to me. Serving is such a rewarding way to truly be the hands and feet of Jesus

Gabby, What advice would you give to someone who is interested in serving?

I will tell them that serving is fun, you get to meet people, and it is a good feeling to help others. This past week when I was helping out I also got to meet people from church and they really are a lot of fun too!

Tracy, Why illuminate church?

This is the best question ever. Long story short, in my prayer time when Gabby was really young I felt that God wanted us to uproot ourselves from South Florida, leave our jobs and everything that we were comfortable with, and move to Central Florida just so I could homeschool Gabby. Our search for a place to live brought us to Celebration and we visited "illuminate" one of the first times we were in Central Florida. MANY times when we visited illuminate we asked for prayers to be able to move here, and for Bill to get a job, etc. We loved "illuminate" from the first time we visited and when everything fell into place we just knew that "illuminate" was the church for us! It has been almost 6 years and everyday we feel the blessings of being part of such an awesome family!!
